Bhopal Memorial Hospital and Research Centre (BMHRC) on Wednesday said the city-based hospital is set to launch an MCh course in Urology, enhancing its academic offerings and bolstering patient care with new specialised expertise.
In a brief released to the media, BMHRC said the National Medical Commission (NMC) has approved the Urology course, which will offer two seats to students after the counselling process.
BMHRC Director-In-Charge Dr Manisha Shrivastava expressed delight at the approval, saying the addition of MCh students would not only enhance the department’s capabilities but also improve patient care. She also spoke of continuing efforts to develop BMHRC into a fully postgraduate (PG) institution.
Currently, PG and super-specialty courses are being offered in various departments, including Anaesthesiology (MD, 4 seats), Microbiology (MD, 2 seats), Psychiatry (MD, 2 seats), Ophthalmology (MS, 2 seats), Cardiology (DM, 3 seats), Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS, MCh, 3 seats), Neurosurgery (MCh, 2 seats), and Urology (MCh, 2 seats).
Additionally, PG courses in Pathology and Transfusion departments are expected to begin next year.
Dr Shrivastava also announced that the Urology Department has recently expanded by welcoming two new urologists, bringing the total number of consultants in the department to three.
BMHRC remains committed to its vision of academic and clinical excellence while continuing to provide advanced medical care to patients, said the media brief.
