BMC’s leader of Opposition Mohammed Sagheer on Tuesday walked out of the cleanliness survey programme in order to protest against the Bhopal Mayor Alok Sharma.
MlA Surendranath Singh, veteran actor Rajiv Verma, BMC Commissioner Chavvi Bharadwaj and BMC Chairman Surjeet Singh Chouhan were also taking part in the programme.
While talking to The Pioneer on Tuesday, Sagheer alleged, “I am not getting enough opportunities to give my suggestions on issues in the BMC council. I have asked Mayor Alok Sharma to address the people during the cleanliness survey programme as I wanted to give my suggestions over the cleanliness survey but he did not let me address. That is why I left the cleanliness survey programme.”
Sagheer further alleged that the city administration should spend the money on the development of the city instead of spending money on this kind of programmes. City administration has spent a lot of money on the posters and on organizing such programs. Bhopal Mayor is not doing any work regarding the development of the city.
Sagheer stated that mayor should take his suggestions over the issues as he is the leader of opposition. He said that he is concerned about the development of Bhopal.
On the contrary, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) District Media In-charge Rajendra Gupta said that Mohammed Sagheer has forgotten the dignity of his post. Sagheer gets every opportunity to speak and gives suggestions during the council meeting. Sagheer has left the programme, when Mayor Alok Sharma was urging the people to support the cleanliness campaign. This shows that Sagheer is not concerned about the development of the city or about the city.
