The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) has decided to rejuvenate its Traffic Park near police control room to educate the local citizens regarding traffic rules and regulations.
The proposed traffic park would be theme based park, which is functional, knowledge based, related to traffic and transportation theme and essentially a lung space in itself.
The idea behind developing a park named Traffic Park in Bhopal is an initiative to educate the young generation of the city with the various modes, rules and regulations of transportation, so that the beauty of the city could be enhanced.
After the BRTS, in coming years, metro or mono rail transport will soon be introduced in the city.
looking towards the adaptation to the new technique, masses should be aware of the functional aspect of various means as well. The proposal of Traffic Park has been framed considering the present scenario of traffic and its future aspects to which the city is looking forward.
Green environment and serenity has been considered while designing and placement of different built-form within the site. Existing trees and other features have been considered in the proposed layout.
Again battery operated vehicles are being proposed for trial run keeping the environment clean and healthy. lung spaces in terms of green and open spaces have been considered within the park. About 95 per cent of the total area is open or green space and only 5 per cent of the land area has been considered under the built-form.
The park has an intersection junction/ square with traffic signals and marking on road. An Exhibition cum training centre, having open, semi-open and closed exhibition space for displaying models, paintings, sculptures, etc. along with audio-visual room for presentations.
Besides, a 100 metre length BRTS Corridor with BRT bus lane, mixed traffic lane, cycle track and pedestrian track within it along with signal operations are also on display.
A trial track has been proposed for children who wish to drive vehicles in the mixed traffic lane under the guidance of trainers.It also features like Bus Stops, Foot Over bridge, Interchange Terminal, Vehicle Parking, Mock Tunnel, etc. have been included in the proposed model frame.
