Less than three weeks to go before the start of the Global Investors Summit, the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday said it has launched a new initiative to improve the cleanliness and aesthetic appeal of the city.
The focus of the initiative is on maintaining green spaces along roads and removing waste from public areas, including construction and demolition (C&D) debris, plastic, and other rubbish.
The BMC aims to create a cleaner, more organized urban environment by ensuring that waste is cleared quickly and that fines are imposed on those caught littering, burning waste, or displaying goods outside shops.
Municipal Commissioner Harendra Narayan has taken charge of overseeing the implementation of these measures.
During a recent inspection of several city areas, including Arera Hills, MP Nagar, and the Press Complex, Narayan issued specific instructions for the trimming of hedges and green elements to enhance the city’s visual appeal.
He also ordered the removal of any illegal signage, such as banners, posters, and hoardings, which contribute to visual clutter. Additionally, Narayan directed that areas like the space between Vallabh Bhavan and the Assembly be developed into a green zone by adding soil to form a mound. These actions are part of the BMC’s broader effort to ensure a cleaner and more aesthetically pleasing environment for Bhopal’s residents, claimed the civic body.
