BMC razes Fortune Glory colony gates

The anti-encroachment squad of the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Wednesday razed the gates between different phases of Fortune Glory colony, near Rohit Nagar. Those residents who were opposing the action by the BMC gathered at the spot and punctured the JCB machine that was used in razing down the so-called illegal encroachment.

Residents of the colony, who opposed the passage to the few house owners constructed in the third phase, created ruckus stating that the BMC took action without serving any prior notice to the residents.

The residents of first two phases, claimed that the Fortune Builder had assured them that the gates, which were bridging between all the three extensions of the colony would always be closed but the builders has deceived the residents.

Talking to ‘The Pioneer’ on Wednesday, a resident of the colony, VN Jha says, “The fortune builder had assured me, when I was purchasing a house in this colony that the colony would remain a closed campus colony. But few years later, the builder developed two other extensions of Fortune Glory. The builder had constructed two gates between in order to connect the Fortune Glory with other extensions. However, the builder had closed the adjoining gates as the residents of the colony protested,” he added.

Jha added, “The gates between the extensions and colony were pulled down on Wednesday by the anti-encroachment squad of the BMC. Officials did not even give the notice to the residents.”

He further claimed National Green Tribunal (NGT) had also issued order in the favour of the residents of the colony on June 30, 2014 saying that this was causing detriment to the persons, who had purchased the plots in the colony and violating the norms of the green belt and open spaces.
