The Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) anti-encroachment squad removed 80 shanties from the slums that were developed in Rachna Nagar Colony. The exercise is being done to remove the encroachment from Government land as a high-rise building for the apartments of former MlAs and MPs has to be constructed there.
The BMC squad joined the district administration’s ongoing anti-encroachment proceedings in Rachna Nagar on Wednesday. About 80 shanties were removed from the Government land and those who were displaced were relocated in Jhagariya Kala village on the outskirts of the State capital. The district administration has earlier removed about 70-80 shanties from the place some days ago, with today’s anti encroachment operation over 150 shanties have been removed while about same number of shanties still remain on the Government land proposed for the construction of high-rise building for former MlAs and MPs.
The BMC squad has made announcement on loudspeakers and informed the remaining shanty owners to vacate the place failing that there shanties would be remove forcefully. Notably, the land from where the encroachments were removed is reserved for the construction of the former MlA and MPs and a ten storied high-rise building in the name of Rachna Tower is proposed to construct there. During past some years shanties have come up on this land.
Former MlA and MPs are clamoring to get place for the proposed high-rise building. This building would have 252 flats; registration for all of them has already taken place. All those who have got allotment have deposited three lakh rupees making a total of nine crore deposit. Demand for HIG flats is most. After new MlA quarters and Rivera Town this would be the third place in the State capital where people’s representative would be settled permanently.
