BlO boycotts training workshop due to lack of basic arrangements

Booth level Officers (BlO) boycotted training and raised slogans after a spat with Nasrullaganj tehsildar Anil Jain during a training workshop in the district on Wednesday. The matter was later resolved only after intervention by the Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Ml Vijayvargiya.

According to sources, 212 BlOs had gathered at the Nasrullaganj tehsil office for training. However, proper seating arrangements had not been made leading to overcrowding in the hall. Besides, there was no fan or provision of water for the BlOs. This incensed the BlOs who asked the tehsildar that why these arrangements have not been made.

This reportedly irritated the tehsildar who directed the BlOs to keep quite and concentrate on the training. Not expecting such a rude response, all the 212 BlOs stood up and went out of the hall boycotting the training. They also raised slogans against the tehsildar.

Subsequently, the BlOs submitted an application to the SDM informing him of the situation. The SDM acknowledged the seriousness of the matter. He also made alternative arrangement to conduct the training at a government school nearby. Thus, the training resumed after an interruption of nearly three hours.

Commenting on the incident, an employee leader Harishankar Tanwar said, “The tehsildar Anil Jain has misbehaved with the BlOs. His behaviour was totally uncalled for because the hall where BlOs were made to sit lacked proper facilities. Such misbehaviour cannot be tolerated.”

Meanwhile, the SDM has assured that he would take appropriate steps after probing the matter. Notably, the training was held for the BlOs who have been engaged for voter list revision that will be conducted from May 1 to 15. State Government employees and school teachers have been deputed as BlO for the work.
