Blaze at Bhavan raises questions of negligence

Published on:

The fire that broke out at the Vindhyachal Bhavan in the wee hours on Friday has raised many questions after the departments concerned have started to cover up the incident.

Statements of the officials of the Madhya Pradesh State Electricity Board were questioned after their claims regarding the reason. They claimed that the fire was caused due to short-circuit, but the claims raised suspicion as after the short circuit the lights of the building area, which caught fire were on which dashed the claims of the disruption in the power supply.

On the other side FSl prepared report based on claims made by MPPEB of short circuit for the reason which caused fire without any detail investigation. Negligence in the maintenance of the fire extinguisher surfaced during the incident as fire extinguishers which were present in the premises were old and went off while tried to use. The fire alarm system also failed at the time of incident.

Providing details of the short circuit MPPEB official told that short circuit is caused by overloading in the power supply or old and damaged wiring and it should be remembered that one year ago the wiring was repaired and shocking thing which raised the suspicion was the power supply was continuous at the time of fire and lights of the office were on when the fire tenders were trying to pacify the fire.

The security officer Sandeep Bhuria has denied that outsider entered the premises to set the fire as the premises is guarded by tight security which includes security guard and two police personnel at the main gate.
