leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Satyadev Katare here on Monday alleged that the State's ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is organising 'Krishi Mahotsav' ahead of civic bodies elections to take poll advantage.
He alleged that this is sheer misuse of Government machinery for party gains. While talking to media persons here on Monday, Katare said that an amount of Rs 30 crore has been sent from the Mandi Board for organising the Mahotsav.
The distribution of agricultural insurance of Rs 2,500 crore which is the right of farmers insured by the scheme by way of celebration under the Mahotsav amounts to insulting the peasants.
Pointing out that State Government claimed a loss of at least Rs 2,500 crore while declaring an agricultural growth of 24.77 per cent, he claimed that the agricultural growth has been achieved on the basis of false figures. He said wheat was being procured from neighbouring states.
“Rani laxmibai Agricultural University was set up in Uttar Pradesh's Jhansi for benefitting students of seven districts in Uttar Pradesh and six districts in Madhya Pradesh. However, students in the State are not benefitting from it due to the Government's lackadaisical attitude,” said Katare said.
He also alleged that the then Madhya Pradesh Seed Certification Agency Managing Director BM Sahare and others were booked by Maharashtra police for supplying sub-standard seeds. The agency has even been blacklisted in Maharashtra.
