Facing discontent by the party cadre just ahead of Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has indulged in controlling the situation either by admonishing or threatening for action.
BJP State president and MP Narendra Singh Tomar, organisational general secretary Arvind Menon and senior leader and MP Anil Madhav Dave have taken the responsibility of damage control and in the process are adopting all means to satisfy the cadres who are on revolt over ticket distribution.
The BJP leadership worried with the increasing factionalism and revolt like conditions at many places over ticket distribution is adopting all means for damage control including cosseting the discontent cadres and if they still continue on their stance of revolt then they are also threatened of disciplinary action. Warning is also given to the cadres and leaders who are not falling in line with the party. The party leadership is unhappy over the way the dissident leaders and workers are opposing their opponents.
Notably, the BJP supporters of the leaders demanding ticket have gone public to register their protest against the party and are reaching in large numbers at the party state headquarters shouting slogans and displaying placards to lodge their protest. Besides the party state headquarters, the discontent lots are also knocking doors of the state president Narendra Singh Tomar and chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s residence for their intervention in their favour.
Meanwhile, the BJP national vice president and MP Prabhat Jha said here on Thursday that the party should take strict action against those who are causing harm to the party image by doing public protests against the party leadership. “The way these cadres are demonstrating is against the culture of the BJP and this should not be tolerated,” Jha added.
He said that the party has internal democracy and whatever grievances the cadres and their leaders have should be raised at the proper platform at the place of going public.
