BJP uses Sanjay Nirupam's comment to target Congress

Keeping its tradition of using old instances to safeguard itself, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) took shelter of three-year old comment of Mumbai Congress Committee chief Sanjay Nirupam against Union HRD Minister Smriti Irani in defense of union minister Giriraj Singh’s racist comment against Congress president Sonia Gandhi. BJP Madhya Pradesh woman cell president lata Wankhede in a statement here on Saturday while terming Nirupam’s comment condemnable said, “The comments of a senior Congress leader prove his party’s intellectual illiteracy. Courtesy and decency are expected in politics. Singh has regretted over whatever he said about Gandhi. The union minister should also not utter such words against any gentle lady, but his intents should not be taken as racial. He meant the ongoing heritage in the grand old party.” She further said that Nirupam has shown his mental illness by terming Irani a ‘Thumke lagane wali,’ that is condemnable and objectionable, for this he should tender public apology. His comment could not be taken lightly, there is difference between Nirupam and Singh’s comment, she added.
