BJP threatening people to vote in its favour: Cong to Sampat

Chairman of Congress Media Committee for Madhya Pradesh State Assembly elections Premchand Guddu has complained with the Chief Election Commissioner VS Sampat regarding the pressuring of Police and administration by BJP and Ministers working towards instilling fears among the voters to cast votes in its favour.

During his visit to Delhi on Monday Guddu met Sampat and informed him regarding the development and the irregularities which are witnessed after model code of conduct was imposed.

On Sunday, State Minister for Urban Administration and Development Manohar Untwal along with his supporters created ruckus at prize distribution ceremony during Durga Puja festival in Alot village of Ratlam district and threatened residents to vote in his favour.

After the incident when the residents lodged a complaint with the police the SDOP Bamania registered a case to save the accused from strict punishment even after huge chaos was created by the culprits and later succumbing to the pressure by Untwal a fake case of assault was registered against General Secretary of Madhya Pradesh Youth Congress Ajit Borasi who was not even present in Alot.

Guddu alleged that police and administration have been pressurised by BJP to act in favour of the party and which was witnessed few days ago when IG Indore range Vipin Maheshwari had gone to meet a group of BJP leaders including Member of Parliament Sumitra Mahajan, Health Minister Mahendra Singh Hardia. BJP office-bearers and MlA’s were also present at the venue. Maheshwari was instructed not to disturb BJP leaders in the name of model code of conduct and they should be allowed to continue with their political activities.

Fair and free elections should be conducted in the state and to ensure necessary steps should be taken by the election commission and

officers with distrustful conduct should not be deployed for the field work during elections, he added.
