Bharatya Janata Party’s (BJP) State president and Member of Parliament Nandkumar Singh Chouhan in a statement here on Sunday said that after independence it is for the first time that a Government at the Centre has recognized the value of the farmers and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has given them financial security through crop insurance policy and made their life secure.

Chouhan was reviewing the preparations for the Prime Minister Modi’s visit at Sherpur on February 18. Through the crop insurance policy central government will have to bear Rs 17-18 thousand crore, but will offer financial security and make farmers life tension free, Chouhan said.

Farmers of the state will welcome and felicitate the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on February 18 at Sherpur, Sehore. Nanda Kumar Singh Chouhan and State organizational general secretary Arvind Menon were present in the review meeting held at Sherpur, Sehore and came in touch with the local farmers.

In the meeting BJP State Vice President Vijesh lunavat, State general secretary Aravind Bhadoriya, Bhopal MP Alok Sanjar, local legislators and party leaders from nearby districts were present.

Chouhan on this occasion interacted with the farmers who attended the meeting. He further said that Modi promoted the slogan ‘Jai Jawan Jai Kisan and Jai Vigyan.’

The Modi government is working on six points to revolutionize farming, Chouhan added. Most important out of them is agriculture research. Soil health card distribution is also a point of importance for improving the productivity.

Encouraging organic farming, Prime Minister has declared Sikkim as Organic State. Agriculture markets are being turned into marketing arena. By September of this year 200 Agriculture Markets will be connected to E- trading.  By 2017 400 agriculture market and by 2018 585 agriculture market will be joined by E- trading.

Previous government limited the disaster range and insured the loan amount hence farmers got nothing in their hands. But Modi defined the disaster to a great scope and increased the compensation amount to an extent that if farmers has to bear loss due to climate or if cannot sow, he still can claim his amount.
