Unidentified assailants here on Thursday shot dead Bharatiya Janata Party’s senior leader Prahlad Bandhwar.
Bandhwar who was chairman of Mandsaur municipality was standing in front of District Co-operative Bank at around 7 pm when a bike-borne unidentified man approached him and fired shot from a close range. The bullet hit Bandhwar in the head leading to his death on the spot.
Before anyone could react, the shooter fled away on his motorbike.Police were trying to scan footage of the CCTV cameras installed in the area and had sealed the borders of the city to nab the attacker. There was no clue of the attacker till reports last came in.
Questioned on the twin sensational murders- one in Indore on Wednesday and one on Thursday in Mandsaur, Sports and Youth Welfare minister Jitu Patwari in Bhopal told the media that police officers have been directed to probe into the cases and ensure such cases are not repeated in future.
On Wednesday, the commercial capital Indore was shaken up as leading businessman of the city Sandip Agarawal was shot dead as some unidentified assailants sprayed five bullets on him as an unaware Agarwal was approaching his car in busy Vijaynagar area in Indore at around 7.30pm.
Agrawal who had voluntarily withdrawn his bodyguards couple of months ago was alone at the time of attack and died during treatment at Bombay Hospital soon after. He was involved in commodity trading, cable business and oil trade.
The businessman till recently was into cable business and had some dispute on payments with his partners, his family has alleged. There was no clue about the attackers till Thursday and seven police teams were formed to crack the audacious murder.
The police have detained over two dozen suspects and are quizzing them. The incident had put serious question marks on law and order in MP as the attack took place barely 100 metres away from the Vijaynagar police station, situated on one of the busiest roads of the city.
