State BJP vice president Vrijesh Lunawat said that Shahbano case is not fresh, but since 1986, the Congress was in power with over 400 parliamentarians made all efforts to appease voters which made Muslim women to face injustice.
Lunawat was talking to media persons here on Wednesday. He stated that if Congress had taken right decision, Muslim women would be freed from injustice then only.
He further said that July 30, 2019 was golden day as Triple Talaq bill was passed making the Muslim women free from 1400 year old malpractice and congratulated members of Rajya Sabha, Lok Sabha and Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The issue of Triple Talaq is not political or religious but it is a matter of proud and dignity of women, he said, adding that during the first term of Modi government in 2016 issue of Triple Talaq surfaced and Supreme Court decided in favour of women and government imposed ban and in the second term of Modi government, the bill regarding Triple Talaq was passed.
After the passing of the bill Muslim women could get justice and social security. In the bill arrest without warrant, imprisonment for three years, bail on the consent of women, negotiation on the appeal of victim women, alimony and providing custody of minor children to women. Lunawat said that the malpractice of Triple Talaq in a civilized society for long prevailed only due to endorsement by Congress and other political parties.
The neighbouring country Pakistan stopped the practice in 1956, Bangladesh has stopped practice of triple talaq and in 22 countries in which most of them are Muslim countries have banned triple talaq.
