Bizarre are the ways of politics. After 15 years of governance, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is out to remind the voters of 'misrule' of the Congress Government that had ended in Madhya Pradesh way back in 2003.
The saffron party has come out with a series of advertisements comparing the Congress Government of 2003 and the present BJP.
Justifying the strategy, Madhya Pradesh BJP vice-president Vijesh lunawat told 'The Pioneer' that it has become essential to inform the new generation of the old days of Congress regime, because the new voters (first-time voters who have attained the age of 18) must have been of 2-3 years of age during the Congress Government of 2003.
"They should realize what the Congress Government was and the days considered as nightmare were faced by his or her parents. That was the time when the Chief Minister was a learned man," he said, adding that in the past 15 years, son of a farmer has completely changed the situation in the State. Now, Madhya Pradesh is being counted among the developed States, he added.
"Now, it is the choice of the voters whether they want to take the State towards Vikas (Development) or Vinash (Destruction)," he said. lunawat reminded that even in the last Assembly elections in 2013, the BJP leaders instead of seeking votes on development of 10 years, compared with the Congress regime of 2003.
