BJP questions Cong's intentions

With the Opposition parties including the Congress seeking to corner the BJP over the ISI espionage case, the saffron party said that the Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) took action in the BJP ruled State and is still investigating the matter. The action taken against the accused must be appreciated.

Hitting back at the opposition, BJP spokesperson Vishwas Sarang said, “Investigation agency has arrested people on the basis of credible information. Is it not to be appreciatedIJ law will apply to everyone irrespective of anything. Before leveling allegations, will Congress like to answer why is that they never sought to take action when corruption, other illegal activities were happening in their Government and party at very high levelIJ”

The involvement of BJP office bearers points to the fact that criminal elements have infiltrated the party. The party is in power in the State for last 13 years and it is expected that criminal elements will attempt to identify themselves with it, so that they can put some pressure on the police.

The embarrassment was evident when BJP State president Nand Kumar Singh Chouhan told State delegates that he was reprimanded by BJP president Amit Shah for the involvement of criminals in the party. Whether that happened or not, one doesn’t know but it is up to the party leadership to weed out criminal elements.

Notably, eleven persons were arrested from different cities of Madhya Pradesh on February 9 for being part of an alleged espionage racket being run from Pakistan to collect strategic information on important Indian establishments. The ATS had picked up one person from Satna, five from Gwalior, three from Bhopal and two from Jabalpur. Demanding a high-level probe, Congress workers in Bhopal had also taken to streets earlier this week and clashed with BJP activists.
