Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has claimed that the irrigation revolution changed the scenario of Madhya Pradesh as the irrigation capacity of the State has been increased from 37 per cent to 80 per cent and gave its credit to Modi Mission’s ‘Per drop more crop.’
BJP State vice president Vijesh lunawat in a statement here on Monday said, “The unprecedented increase in the irrigation capacity of the State during the past 11 years is the result of Prime Minister’s ‘Per drop more crop’ missions’ successful conclusion.
Besides, it is the result of better water management, extension of canals, maintenance, water distribution and unique initiative of public support.”
lunawat said it was the claim of State’s Water Resources Development Minister Narottam Mishra that during the past eleven years the irrigation capacity of the State had been increased from 7 lakh hectares to 30 lakh hectare and there was ambitious plan that in the coming days it would increase by double of today’s capacity and would reach to 60 lakh hectares.
He said the counting of the State used to be in the category of rain based agriculture producing State but it is the result of the increase in irrigation capacity that the State is winning prestigious agriculture award of the country Krishi Karman award continuously since last four years. The record of increase in the agriculture growth rate of any state to tens and further to 20 per cent and to sustain over it continuously for four years is in the name of only Madhya Pradesh. This is a world record and for that chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and water resources minister Narottam Mishra deserves kudos, he added.
He said that those criticizers who raise questions over development works
need to change their way of thinking.
