Putting his own party into the dock by hitting self goal, the State convener of the Cultural Cell of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Rajesh Bhadauriya has written to the State leadership on the eve of State executive in Gwalior that if BJP wants to return to power in the next Assembly elections, it must apologise for Vyapam.
Bhadauriya while talking to media persons here on Tuesday said, "I have written a letter to State BJP chief Nandkumar Singh Chauhan and organizational general secretary Suhas Bhagat that the situation is alarming because of the impact of the Vyapam scam. lakh of students, their families suffered due to large-scale corruption in the Vyapam scam hence we should apologize to the people of the state for the scam."
Bhadauriya further said that he has asked the State leadership to include two points in the proposal for discussion during the two-day executive. The second proposal is about projecting a dalit leader as the next chief minister of the State.
He further said that these resolutions ought to be passed during the executive. "The Vyapam scam took place during our tenure and hence our leadership is responsible for it. We must take moral responsibility. It will help us reclaim people's confidence. Dalits had voted in large numbers to the BJP but due to the incidents of attacks and atrocities on them it is quite clear that they are now worried and distracted from the party," he added.
He said that in every meeting, party talk about getting support of Dalits by setting up memorials or museums or by celebrating the birth anniversary of constitution maker BR Ambedkar but due to attacks on Dalits on the ground, it all appears to be eyewash.
Bhadauriya said that he hopes the party would seriously consider these proposals so that it can strengthen itself ahead of the upcoming election. The letter was sent Chauhan and Bhagat recently, he added.
The BJP's state executive meet is scheduled to be held in Gwalior on September 28 and 29. The leader's open call for party to take responsibility for Vyapam scam and redress the grievances of Dalits, are likely to cast its shadow on the meet.
