BJP MlA Usha speaks against animal sacrifice

BJP MlA Usha Thakur who is in the habit of  courting controversies for her off-the- cuff remarks time and again has once again kicked up another row by opposing the goat sacrifice on Bakra Eid and reiterated her demand for banning entry of Muslims inside garba pandals during Navratri festival.

Questioning sacrifice of goats on Bakra Eid, Thakur said no one has the right to kill innocent animals. Talking to media persons here on Friday, the BJP MlA said if the Muslims cannot give human sacrifice, they have no right to sacrifice animals. Thakur said there are many in the Muslim community who taking a sympathetic view on this issue have started making sacrifices on Bakra Eid symbolically.

This is not the first time the BJP MlA has courted controversy for her statements. last year she had demanded a ban on entry of Muslim youths inside garba pandals during Navratri festival on the plea that Islam does not allow idol worship so Muslims should not be venturing in garba pandals and she claimed that several Muslim clerics and intellectuals had also supported her call by claiming that Islam bars any kind of idol worship so any true Muslim should not be attending garba functions.

Reiterating her demand for a ban on entry of Muslims in garba pandals, Thakur said that she would be issuing fresh guidelines for garba pandals this year too, saying that such functions should only be limited to the Hindus.
