BJP leaders pitch for kin in Indore

With the announcement of dates for the State Assembly elections due November 25, senior BJP leaders in the district have started making a pitch for their kin.

In order to ensure allotment of party tickets to their kin, these leaders appeared to go to any extent. Some of them are not only shifting their loyalties but also ready to bury their political animosity.

In order to promote political career of their sons and ensure allotment of party tickets to them from constituencies of their choice, these senior BJP leaders have even ready to burry their hatchet with their political rivals.

In an attempt to create political space his son Akash Vijayvargiya, State Industry Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya has posted a message in social media about his plan to stay away from Assembly election this year.

Political analysts took his post as his tactics to make his party leadership to give a thought over his wish. Though a day after his message, Vijayvargiya clarified that whatever he said on Facebook reflected sentiment of a father but that did not mean that he was not interested in contesting elections.

“I shall abide by the party’s directives and would contest elections from any constituency what party decides,” said Vijayvargiya, adding that his views on the Facebook were in fact misconstrued.

Notwithstanding his clarifications, Vijayvargiya is leaving no stone unturned to project his son as a prospective party’s candidate in the ensuing Assembly elections and has given him a free hand to create a political pitch for himself in Mhow, the constituency currently being represented by himself.

Knowing well that he cannot stake claim for his son without securing support from other senior party leaders, Vijayvargiya for the past sometime has been making a tactical move to bridge his political and personal differences with local MP Sumitra Mahajan and has been making an all-out efforts to woo her.

That his new found love for Sumitra Mahajan came in both the media and public glare for the first time when he accommodated Sumitra Mahajan’s photographs appear along with his photograph as well as with the photographs of senior party leader Sushma Swaraj in hoardings erected on behalf of his son Akash in various parts of the city in connection with a `Nari shakti sammelan’ held in Mhow at the initiative of Vijayveirgya few days back. It was perhaps for the first time in recent years that Vijayvargiya had invited Sumitra Mahajan in a function organised by him.

Though Mahajan for some or the other reasons failed to turn up in his `Nari shakti sammelan’, the hoardings carrying photographs of Vijayverigya and Sumitra Mahajan, to the political observers in the region have apparently given an indication of a growing political realignment within the BJP wherein two political foes of a party have decided to iron out their differences for a common cause and that i.e. to project their sons’ candidature in the ensuing assembly elections.

After Vijayvargiya, Sumitra Mahajan who otherwise remained indifferent in Assembly elections all these years, has also strongly started lobbying for her son Mandar Mahajan and make him as party’s official candidate from Rau assembly segment, which is currently being represented by BJP MlA Jeetu Jirati, a confidante of Vijayvargiya.

Mahajan has even started playing a ‘Sikh and Marathi card’ in the constituency, given strong presence of people of these communities in the constituency. At the insistence of Mahajan, a delegation of the Sikh community people led by Indore Gurusingh Sabha president Rinku Bhatiya, general secretary Raja Gandhi even went to  Bhopal on Saturday where they met party’s higher-ups expressing their displeasure and peoples’ against Jirati  in Rau assembly constituency. The Sikh community leaders also even apprised the BJP senior leaders in Bhopal as how Jirati supported a Congress candidate during their community’s elections in the city sometime back.
