BJP leaders not sure if State party chief to be replaced or no

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders are still not sure whether State BJP president Rakesh Singh would be replaced by any other senior leaders. Despite the fact that the BJP lost Assembly elections during his regime in the State, he continues to lobby for the second term.

The organisational polls of the BJP have entered the final stages. Elections to the presidents in almost all the districts have competed and soon the list would be out.

Party sources said soon after the final list of district presidents is sent to the high command, the process for the election of State president would commence. Among others who are in the race for the State president post are -former Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Kailash Vijayvargiya and Prabhat Jha.

After the completion of the organisational polls, the party is set to get its new State president and several regional heavyweights, including outgoing State head Rakesh Singh, former CM Shivraj Singh Chouhan, party national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and party vice president Prabhat Jha are in the hunt for the coveted post, sources in the BJP claimed.

After losing power during last year's Assembly polls in Madhya Pradesh and the party appointing him as national vice-president entrusting him with the key responsibility of BJP's pan India membership drive, Chouhan time and again has made it clear that his heart and soul lies in his home state.

Party sources claimed that it is for sure that in the BJP, the election would be unanimous. Since, Shivraj is continuously taking keen interest in the State politics he might be picked up by the high command.

Besides, party national general secretary Kaialsh Vijayvargiya's name is also in the contention for the top post in the State. He was the person credited with the party's success in Haryana where the party rose from four to 47 seats in the State Assembly polls in 2014, snatching power from Congress party. The party had gone to Assembly polls under Vijayvargiya who was the in charge of the State.

Recently, the party also showed handsome improvement in performance in Lok Sabha polls in West Bengal in a State also spearheaded by Vijayvargiya as in charge.

Meanwhile, former BJP State president Prabhat Jha is also in the fray. Jha who is presently party's national vice-president is also a Member of Parliament in Rajya Sabha but his term to the Upper House expires in April 2020. Besides, candidature of incumbent State head Rakesh Singh is also in the contention for another term. Singh's claim also held prominence that the party had swept Lok Sabha polls under his leadership in 2019.
