BJP launches membership verification drive in MP

Following allegations being levelled by the Congress that fake memberships were made by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) by launching its membership drive online and through mobile phones, the saffron party has decided to scrutinize the members added to the party. The BJP’s membership verification has officially commenced, but it is yet to take off in the field. Pamphlets are being published to be distributed during the verification drive.

During the drive, the BJP leaders would move from door to door to verify each and every member. A 40-point format has been prepared to fill after contacting the genuine members. Besides, guidelines have been issued from the central leadership to remove members found fake or having criminal background. The State BJP has added more than one crore members to the party that is a sort of record in the country.

Party sources said that the membership data has been stored in special computers in the party headquarters. From these computers, data cannot be taken out through pen drive or by attaching external hard disk. Moreover, a team of confidential members has been asked to maintain the data, so that the data cannot be tampered with.

Former MlA Arvind Bhadouriya, who is also BJP State general secretary and State in-charge of the mega contact drive, told ‘The Pioneer’ that final data of the members would be used for different purposes, including publicity of the State and Central Government schemes for particular section of the society. All the members would be connected through SMS services and the members would be segregated on the basis of their profession and caste basis. Whenever needed, only by one click, the message would be delivered to all members of that particular section, he added.
