State Congress on Wednesday charged Shivraj Singh Chouhan led Bharatiya Janata Party Government in the State of using "politics of repression" against its political rivals.
Deputy leader of Opposition in the State Assembly, Choudhary Rakesh Singh and senior legislator of the party Govind Singh were ill treated by the SDM while holding peaceful demonstration in the Bhind Collector office premises on Monday, alleged Congress leadership and demanded strict action against the erring official.
leader of Opposition in Madhya Pradesh Assembly Ajay Singh in a statement said, “The manner in which a case has been filed against Choudhary and Govind Singh indicates that the Government wanted to use the administration against its political rivals.”
Singh further said that the StateGgovernment did not like the manner in which the Congress had taken to the streets to protest against corruption and its anti-people policies. A protest like this was organised in Bhind in which Choudhary Rakesh Singh and Govind Singh took part and subsequently a false case was filed against him, he added. He said that the Congress would intensify its agitation against the "repressive policies" and asked it to confront directly instead of using the administration.
Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) president and MP Kantilal Bhuria said, “The police and the district administration acted barbaric on the Congress leaders and workers who went to the collector office to handover a memorandum.
When the senior legislators of the party, Choudhary and Singh leading the demonstration opposed the administration move they were manhandled and insulted by the SDM.” Bhuria further said that the attitude of the SDM was not as per the dignity of his office, at that time he along with police and district administration appeared to be working with malice.
If the administration continues to work in vengeance against the elected representatives then the conditions would further deteriorate in the State and only the Government would be responsible, he added.
