The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) seems more confident of Jyotiraditya Scindia leading the rival Congress in 2018 State Assembly polls than the Congress.
In the Congress, there is speculation that Scindia might be given a chance to lead the party in the upcoming Assembly elections.
led by Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, the ruling BJP is leaving no stone unturned to take on the senior Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia.
Since, Scindia is the only dynamic leader left in the Madhya Pradesh Congress that might decide fate of the party, the BJP Government is leading from the front to take on Scindia.
Two days ago, the State Government has decided to appoint a receiver for Maharaja Jiwajirao Education Society (MJES) that governs the prestigious Samrat Ashok Technical Institute (SATI) in Vidisha.
Everything has been fine in the Society till recently, when Scindia was removed from the post of Chairman of the Board of Governors in the Society by MJES Secretary Pratap Bhanu Sharma, who convened a meeting of the MJES in January, 2017.
Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan is leaving no stone unturned in cornering Scindia, as he is the only dynamic leader in Congress that could pose a threat to him in the next Assembly elections.
In the recently held State BJP executive meeting held at Mohankheda (Dhar district), Chouhan had categorically alleged that Congress leader Jyotiraditya Scindia grabbed land meant for the poor in Shivpuri area and accused him of using it for business purposes. Referring to this and taking his attack to the personal front, Chouhan called Jyotiraditya selfish and added that he was unworthy of respect.
Earlier, during campaigning for Ater Assembly by-election, in Sinhuda village Chouhan had launched a scathing attack on the erstwhile royal Scindia family, saying that Scindias connived with the Britishers to unleash atrocities on innocent people.
The attack by Chouhan was seen to particularly target the Guna MP and Congress chief whip in the lok Sabha Jyotiraditya Scindia, who is likely to be projected as Congress's chief ministerial candidate for the 2018 Assembly polls.
There are only four regional satraps in Madhya Pradesh Congress, Digvijay Singh, Kamalnath, Suresh Pachouri and Jyotiraditya Scindia. Of them, Digvijay Singh is already facing problems and Suresh Pachouri's camp is almost inactive. Besides, Kamalnath is reportedly interested in establishing his son. This way, only Scindia is left the most powerful as he has complete time for 2018 and 2023 Assembly elections.
