The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in Madhya Pradesh finds it more difficult to tackle the dissent brewing among the party workers and leaders.
Thus, besides deciding the candidates for the Assembly elections, the leaders are making more efforts to control the annoyed party workers and leaders. A strategy in this regard is being prepared at Chief Minister’s residence in the presence of State BJP president Narendra Sinhgh Tomar and State BJP organisational general secretary Arvind Menon.
Party sources said the list of BJP candidates for the Assembly polls are almost ready for all the 230 seats, but the senior leadership is reluctant to announce this list sensing resentment among the ticket aspirants in different constituencies.
In past 10 days, BJP workers and leaders claiming tickets or opposing ticket to certain leaders have approached the party headquarters from more than 100 seats.
Sources claimed the senior leaders have decided single names on 150 seats, while panel of two names have been prepared on 25 seats and on the remaining constituencies, there are three names on each seats. It is expected that around 45 legislators including few ministers might loose party ticket.
The leaders are learnt to have roped in former co-organisational general secretary of State BJP Bhagwat Sharan Mathur to tackle the situation that would arose after the first list of candidates is announced in a couple of days. Since, he has earlier worked in Madhya Pradesh, he is well connected with almost all the leaders in different constituencies and thus it is believed that they would listen to the advice of Mathur.
While talking to media persons, national BJP general secretary Ananth Kumar said the list of the BJP candidates is ready and it only needs to be declared. With this, it is expected that meeting of the State election committee might be held on October 28 and on the same day the list would be endorsed and forwarded to the central election committee.
