Commerce and Industries, Employment and IT Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya on Tuesday reacted sharply over former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh’s statement on Government employees’ interests in the State.
Vijayvargiya in a statement said, “Digvijay Singh does not have any right to voice for the employees’ interests as it was during his tenure that the employees’ interests were hit the most.” Vijayvargiya further said that this is the same Digvijay Singh who has even freeze the Daily Allowance (DA) of the employees, who initiated employee culture, who used to threaten employees of stopping pension, who snatched the livelihood of over 28,000 employees by making them jobless, who used to say that how could development be done as the whole money goes on employees salaries and wages, who used to consider pensioners as a burden on the state and the same person who conceited from public forums that he does not need employees’ votes.
He said the programme in which Singh was speaking is associated with the electricity board and it is the same board where during his tenure all limits of insensitiveness were crossed and many facilities were snatched from board’s employees including ban on appointments on compassionate grounds. This decision has been reverted by the BJP government of the state led by Shivraj Singh Chouhan, he added.
Notably, Congress general secretary Digvijay Singh on Monday alleged that BJP created an anti-employees’ image of him before the 2003 Assembly elections in Madhya Pradesh which led to his party’s downfall. “The resentment of the employees became the reason for the Congress’ defeat in the 2003 Assembly elections,” Singh said, while addressing the state-level conference of the Indian National Electricity Federation here last evening.
He alleged, “The BJP and RSS spread false information about me in 2003 because of which the working class turned against me,” Singh alleged. The Congress leader claimed that he had always worked for the welfare of the working class.
