State Congress has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of the State is trying to save the chairman of the Apex Bank Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, an accused in serious financial crime.
State Congress media incharge Mukesh Nayak in a statement here on Thursday said, “The lokayuta organisation has submitted challan in the special court in Bhopal on June 28 against Shekhawat and other eight accused in the infamous Chanda Thete loan scandal.”
Nayak further said that the sections of the IPC in which the challan has been produced are very serious. The superintendent of police of the lokayukta’s special police establishment has also written to suspend the cooperative department’s principal secretary, commissioner and the managing director of the Apex Bank in view of the presentation of challan in the court against these officials, he added.
He said that in these circumstances keeping the accused chairman and Government officials at their current postings would be considered as an act to provide protection to the scamsters. The economical offense against all the accused have been found to be true in the first sight in these conditions continuation of their services in the bank is not in the economical interest of the bank, he added.
He said that in the loan case, large scale irregularities have taken place right from the sanction of the loan to the final repayment settlement in which chairman of the bank Bhanwar Singh Shekhawat, incharge managing director RB Batti, legal adviser Shantilal lodha and Om Patidar and deputy managing director Keshav Pande played an important role. The challan produced by the lokayukta police against all these accused is very clear due to the proven facts presented in it, and hence the seriousness of the crime is also established, he added.
