BJP: Full coverage for farmers' losses in MP

Published on:

Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) State General Secretary Arvind Bhadoriya has said that for the first time under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the National Democratic Government (NDA) Government has upheld the farmers’ importance and decided to insure all the stages of farming, giving them an absolute coverage against loss.

The Government will have to bear Rs3400 crore to Rs8000 crore as a cost of this scheme. There is a huge responsibility on the shoulders of the Central government as similar schemes were planned by previous Governments, but not executed to the advantage of the farmers, added Bhadoriya.

He further said that from the comparative point of view, previously the insurance premium was 15 per cent and never went beyond 23 per cent. Narendra Modi wishes to benefit all the farmers with this crop insurance policy within two years. There are almost 14 crore farmers with land in India. Government is also providing all of them with soil test cards after going through a soil test. This will help them in using minimum quantity of fertilizers and reduce their investments.

Bhadoriya further said that by increasing the range of disaster, Modi has shown his concern for the farmers. Moreover, in the policy there is provision for easy claims of insurance.

Twenty five per cent of the claims will be credited in the bank accounts of the farmers with the initial crop loss assessment. He informed that middleman and manual crop cutting will be abolished and loss would be measured by remote sensing.

The farmers of Madhya Pradesh will felicitate the Prime Minister on February 18 in Sherpur, Sehore at the farmers’ Convention. Farmers from all over the State will participate in the programme.
