BJP flays Cong on farmers' issue

Published on:

Displaying pro-farmer character by the Congress which has exploited farmers during its reign is an irony and the people of the State are aware that farmers have committed suicide due to the exploitation at the time of Congress rule, said BJP State general secretary Nandkumar Singh Chouhan.

Chouhan criticising the then Chief Minister Digvijay Singh said that during the Congress rein he alleged that farmers were helpless at that time due to the mismanagement in the governance.

He said the people of the State are capable of differentiating a imperial Chief Minister (Digvijay Singh) and Chief Minister (Shivraj Singh Chouhan) who is a farmer’s son and in the past 10 years who had turned the loss making agriculture sector into a profit making sector. For the past two years the State has been awarded with Krishi Karman Award and the achievement was claimed under BJP ruled State but during the Congress rule no such accolades were received by the State.

He said Congress always avoids facts and believes in the politics of misleading the masses.  In the 10 year tenure of Congress around 7.5 lakh hectare land was irrigated while in the 1o year tenure of BJP it has increased to 25 lakh hectare land was irrigated, he added.

He said around 16 percent interest was imposed on agriculture loan while under the leadership of Shivraj Singh Chouhan the interest rate has been reduced to 0 percentage.

He said Bonus on the Minimum Support Price (MSP) was never provided during the Congress rule while in the BJP tenure a bonus of Rs 150 was provided to the farmers along with the MSP.
