BJP files two complaints against Congress leaders

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Saturday registered two complaints of violation of model code of conduct against the Congress leaders.

BJP State president and MP Narendra Singh Tomar in a written complaint to the   Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the State alleged that Union Minister of State for Power and chairman of the Madhya Pradesh Congress Election Campaigning Committee Jyotiraditya Scindia is openly flouting the model code of conduct.

Tomar said that Scindia would participate in various religious programmes as chief guest. As the model code of conduct is in force in the State due to Assembly elections visiting religious places with the intents of using the visit for political purposes comes under model code violation. Congress always uses Government machinery fearlessly during imposition of the model code and the programme of Scindia is one more such attempt. The participation of Scindia in the religious programmes is confirmed by the Union Ministry for power that comes under the violation of the model code of conduct. This is clear case of misuse of power, he added.

He demanded from the EC to take appropriate action against the Union Minister. Meanwhile, in another complaint to the EC the in-charge of the MP BJP election management committee and MP Anil Madhav Dave handed over a memorandum to the CEO said that the Congress always make mockery of the model code of conduct.

Dave said, “The Congress has always misused the Government machinery since Independence in the Assembly and parliamentary elections.” He registered his apprehensions over Congress leaders meeting for political purposes at a Government building in New Delhi on October 10 and demanded action against them. The Congress has made violation of model code of conduct as its habit and never cares for the rules and regulations set by the EC, he added.
