The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has till now failed to control the discontent among its cadres over the ticket distribution for the forthcoming State Assembly elections scheduled on November 25.
The BJP managers, meanwhile, are finding it hard to do damage control following the protests against the sitting legislators including Ministers with their possible candidature repetition. The saffron party that once off and then feels proud over its party workers for maintaining discipline is perturbed over the public opposition by its cadres prior to the ticket distribution.
Many party workers from different Assembly constituencies are reaching the State capital to lodge their protests against the sitting legislators and are demanding fresh faces from their respective constituencies. The conditions become worse that even the leaders sitting in districts and district organisational secretaries are not taking any interest in containing the discontent at their level. In some areas district organisational secretaries too are openly speaking against the sitting legislators.
Observers feel that this time the mayhem for the BJP tickets seemed to be more extensive than the 2008 Assembly elections. Demonstrations against the sitting legislators of the party started even before the election committee meetings for the candidates selection could begin. Not only the demonstrations are being staged in the State capital but the claimants for ticket are also storming the bungalows of the senior party leaders here in large numbers with their supporters.
The claimants are not only storming the bungalows of the party State president Narendra Singh Tomar and organisational general secretary Arvind Menon but on Tuesday reached the bungalow of Chief Minister to get his favour in their support. The conditions are so worst that the dissatisfied lot does not hesitate in shouting slogans to lodge their opposition.
