The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Monday defended the Shivraj Singh Chouhan-led Madhya Pradesh Government’s handling of the situation post the Ratangarh Temple tragedy, and charged the Congress Party of playing politics over corpses.
State BJP president and parliamentarian Narendra Singh Tomar in a statement stated that the need of the hour is that the Central Government takes initiatives, takes all States into confidence and prepares national disaster plan how to averse such disasters and come out with a plan and help the states to walk on the path.
However, he added that the Congress leaders and Central Government Ministers right from Kamal Nath to Jyotiraditya Scindia to Ajay Maken and Satyavrat Chaturvedi and everybody, they are doing politics on the eve of election. They are doing politics over corpses. So, this attitude of the Congress is destructive attitude.
Tomar stated that the Congress leaders should not forget that the victims also included the devotees from neighbouring Uttar Pradesh State where the lok Sabha constituencies of Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi fall.
He stated that the statements of Congress leaders are not only shameful, but also condemnable. In the year 2006, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan had taken stern action against the guilty and a new bridge was constructed in at the site, so that the incident is not occurred again.
Notably, AICC General Secretary and Communication Department in-charge Ajay Maken said the Congress Party extends its sympathies to the families of those who lost their lives in the tragedy.
“A similar incident had taken place in the Ratangarh Temple five years back in which no one was killed, but several were injured. And the Madhya Pradesh administration has not taken any lesson from it. The saddest part is that this is not a natural disaster, but a man made disaster that has taken place in Ratangarh. And it could have been stopped,” said Maken.
“The Madhya Pradesh Government deploys lakhs of police personnel when there is a BJP Mahakumbh, but here there was no such deployment of the police,” he added.
