Members of both ruling BJP and the main Opposition Congress on Friday alleged in the State Assembly that the employees of a construction company had offered to provide money for election fund and to arrange vehicles for election campaigning.
Raising the matter through a calling attention notice, Govind Singh of Congress said that the employees of lucknow-based Gangotri Construction Company engaged in renovation of Mihona-lahar-Daboh-Bhander-Chirgaon highway had alleged that people’s representatives were demanding bribe. “However, the reality is that the company’s employees are actually offering bribes to people’s representatives,” he said.
Public Works Minister Nagendra Singh said that he would meet the company’s employees and look into the matter himself as it was related to the prestige of the members of House. Arvind Bhadoria of BJP also alleged that the company’s employees had offered money for election fund and jeep for campaigning.
Both the members claimed that the quality of road laying by the company was poor and not according to set parameters. The company was not using materials as agreed in the contract while the deadline for laying the road had expired on January 18. Singh said that ‘damrikaran’ work on the road from lahar to Mihona had come out.
The Minister said that a senior official would be sent to inspect the spot and the quality of the road will be determined. He requested both the members to assist the department in its effort for laying of good quality roads. Singh said that a fine would be slapped on the company as per the contract for not completing the task within stipulated time.
