While campaigning for the urban bodies’ elections has commenced, both the BJP and the Congress are engaged in levelling allegations of selling party tickets.
The BJP leaders had been levelling such allegations for the past few days, soon after State Congress vice-president Manak Agrawal had raised voice against his leadership. He had openly alleged that supporters of former PCC chief Suresh Pachouri were given tickets in Hoshangabad district.
Manak had also accused PCC chief Arun Yadav of having overlooked him during ticket distribution. However, Pachouri had clarified that he had not asked for any ticket from Yadav in this local bodies’ polls.
later, State BJP president and parliamentarian Nandkumar Singh Chouhan had alleged that tickets are sold in the Congress. He had alleged that the ticket distribution in the Congress has become ticket selling and the grand old party has emerged as a ‘mandi’ of tickets.
Reacting over the scourge in the State Congress office on Tuesday over distribution of tickets for the local bodies’ elections, Chouhan said that there was nothing new in hooliganism at the State Congress office as similar incidents had earlier been reported from there.
In a similar attack, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Sunday said that the Congress could not be expected to usher in development because it had sold its tickets for coming municipal elections in the State.
“I am not saying so. This is being said by Congressmen themselves,” said Chouhan while addressing election meetings in the support of party candidates in Bhind district.
To a question on the allegation that election tickets were being Rssold to the aspirants, BJP vice-president and in-charge of Madhya Pradesh Vinay Sahastrabuddhe told media that such reports were false. “Such a thing will not happen even in future,” he added.
levelling such allegations, State Congress chief spokesman KK Mishra said that several tickets were sold in the saffron party, including that of Mayor in Sagar. This was also evident with a number of agitations by the party workers and leaders against this in different parts of the State.
Amid allegations of ticket selling in the BJP by the Congress and protests by party workers at its State headquarters, the saffron party went on the back foot and changed 10 candidates.
