BJP, Cong hand in glove: SP chief

Samajwadi Party (SP) State president Gauri Singh Yadav on Wednesday alleged that the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the main Opposition Congress are hand in gloves and there would be a clear-cut fixing between the two on 50 seats in the Assembly elections scheduled to be held on November 25, in Madhya Pradesh.

Yadav while talking to media here at party’s State office said, “The SP would win 50 seats in the Assembly elections and the next Government in the State could not be formed without our support.” Yadav further said that his party would contest on 190 seats while the alliance partners CPI, CPM, RSD and JD(S) would contest on remaining 40 seats of the Atate Assembly. Till date the SP has declared 125 candidates and the remaining 65 candidates would be declared in next two-three days, he added.

He said that the SP workers and candidates are being threatened and intimidated by the BJP leaders and its Government. “In an old case my son was arrested and sent to jail on the directives of the BJP Government. The Government has itself said earlier that the case has been closed during review despite this my son Surendra Yadav was arrested and sent to jail in nine year case just to dishonor the SP,” Yadav added.

Earlier, while addressing the SP workers, office bearers, declared party candidates said that the Congress and BJP are contesting the elections with money and muscle power and are openly violating the model code of conduct. Efforts should be made that a minimum of ten party workers should compulsorily register their presence at every polling booth. Party workers should not get intimidated, they should follow rules set by the Election Commission and maintain discipline besides making efforts to take the electorate in confidence, he added.
