BJP confident of win in Chhindwara and Guna

BJP Rajya Sabha member Anil Dave on Tuesday claimed that his party was heading towards a sure win in Chhindwara and Guna lok Sabha constituencies, both of which are said to be Congress strongholds.

“We fight all elections with the desire to win and the same thing holds true for these two constituencies too,” the MP told. Dave said there were many reasons behind his optimism for a BJP victory in these two places.

He said Union Ministers Kamal Nath and Jyotiraditya Scindia who were contesting from Chhindwara and Guna respectively would face a defeat due to their own misdeeds.

He alleged that Kamal Nath spent a sum of Rs 50 lakh on the helicopter that he was using for campaigning in the Chhindwara constituency. Such acts will never go down well with voters in Kamalnath’s seat, Dave said.“This time the party has ensured that lotus will bloom in Chhindwara and it will definitely decimate Nath’s fort,” BJP’s Madhya Pradesh poll campaign in-charge Anil Dave said.

The polling will be held in Chhindwara on April 10. Though the fight is directly between Congress and BJP in the State, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has also fielded former minister Mahesh Dube from the seat.

Chhindwara has a total of 14,00,830 voters. Among them 7,21,130 are men, 6,79,678 women, while 22 are categorised as others. These two constituencies had been bastion of Congress for decades. Even this time, the saffron party did consider that these two constituencies are certain for victory of Scindia and Kamal Nath. However, the party has fielded good candidates against Nath and Scindia.

BJP legislator Choudhary Chandrabhan Singh is taking on Nath, while Jaibhan Singh Pawaiya, known as staunch opponent of Scindia family is taking on Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia. However, political observers feel that these BJP nominees can give a tough fight to both the Union Ministers, but they are still safe in Chhindwara and Guna.
