BJP, babus insensitive towards farmers: Cong

The Congress party has alleged that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Madhya Pradesh and the bureaucrats are insensitive towards disaster-hit farmers. Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee chief spokesman KK Mishra and vice president and legislator Govind Singh addressing mediapersons on Monday produced video recording of an incident in which Bhind Collector insulted a dead farmer.

Mishra and Singh said that non-payment of compensation to date to the farmers ruined by the unseasoned rains and hailstorm is a proof that self proclaimed farmer’s son Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan and his Government is anti-farmer while there are many instances of bureaucrats insulting the farmers ruined by unseasoned rains, hailstorms and frost in the State during the past three years in the State. There are proofs of many such incidences where the bureaucrats at the place of showing humanity and sympathy towards ruined farmers and suicides committed by them insulted the farming community, they added.

The leader duo said that Bhind Collector crossed all limits of insensitiveness and inhuman behaviour over suicide of farmer of Umri village Abhilakh Yadav, who unable to repay the loan committed by hanging in his own field. Suicide note was also recovered from the spot by the police. Collector Bhind hurled choicest of abuses to the deceased and his inhuman behaviour and insult to the deceased reflects the insensitive attitude of the bureaucrats and the BJP Government towards the farming community, they added.

They said that during hailstorm, chief minister told the media and the farmers that I would not let farmers cry, every grain would be bought, be it in any condition. But, today there is no one to buy the produce of the farmers, officials are returning it by saying it substandard and the agriculture minister said that Chief Minister might have given the statement to avoid outrage of farmers, they added.

The senior Congress leaders said that we demand that Chief Minister in place of doing verbal chew makes clear his Government’s policy over the issue and also take action against Bhind Collector for insulting dead farmer.
