Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Kantilal Bhuria criticised the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in the State for retaining Moti Kashyap as the Chairman of State Fishermen Welfare Board even after the High Court has declared his election as void in a decision recently.
“Kashyap has been given the designation of a cabinet minister in his capacity as the chairperson of the Board. Retaining him on the position even after the judgment of the High Court is contrary to moral values and financial appropriateness and also a disregard of the court’s decision,” Bhuria said in statement on Sunday. “The election of Kashyap was invalidated by the court for showing a forged caste certificate to contest election from a legislative seat reserved for the Schedule Caste candidates. It was also proved in the case that the certificate that was produced by Kashyap was never issued from the tehsil office as he had claimed. Thus, Kashyap is guilty of committing a crime,” Bhuria said.
Bhuria demanded that the government should immediately remove Kashyap from the position of Chairman of the board. He also said that if the government ahs any doubts regarding the matter it should immediately consult the legal department of the State.
“Retaining Kashyap on his position even after the High Court decision would set a wrong precedent. It is also an important question that a person deemed unfit to be legislator is getting cabinet rank from the government,” he said.
