The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Friday accused leader of Opposition in State Assembly, Satyadev Katare of furnishing erroneous information in election affidavits and alleging that the former State Home Minister’s total assets increased by a whopping 969.02 per cent between 2004 and 2013.
While talking to mediapersons, State BJP’s general secretary Arvind Bhadoriya said a study of affidavits that accompanied his nomination papers submitted at the time of the 2004, 2008 and 2013 polls revealed that Katare’s Permanent Account Number (PAN) was given as VKPK4861G in 2004, ABKPK4861G four years later and ABKPK4661G in 2013. The PAN provided by the Income Tax Department is ABKPK4861G.
Among other purchases, 15.02 acres of farmland was bought for Rs32,55,781 in Aamla village on July 29, 2006 in the name of Katare’s wife Meera but this was not declared in the 2008 and 2013 affidavits, the saffron party leader said, adding that a Rs11 lakh life insurance policy matured in Katare’s name but did not find mention in the 2008 and 2013 affidavits.
The leader’s son is the owner of a Rs 6-crore commercial outlet that is part of a chain store retailing garments.
The Congress leader conspired to cheat the populace; he enjoys no right to have a place in the Assembly and actually should be incarcerated. We will launch a statewide agitation against him. later today, we shall lodge a police complaint against Katare and also approach the lokayukta besides submitting a copy to the Speaker and the State Election Commission. The High Court will be approached and Congress President Sonia Gandhi shall also be appealed to seek his resignation, Bhadoriya added.
