BJP, Cong exchange allegations over farm loan waiver

In a fresh debate over farm loan waiver, BJP and Congress exchanged allegations on Tuesday as ruling party members handed over 21 lakh names of farmers in bundle of papers at Shivraj Singh Chouhan’s residence who continued to refute loan waiver claims.

The issue started on Saturday, when BJP released of Aarop Patra claiming that farm loan waiver was a complete failure alleging loan of not a single farmer was waived off.

Stung by the repeated accusations of Chouhan who was calling farm loan waiver a fraud in election rallies, Congress leaders led by exUnion minister Suresh Panchauri packed 21 lakh names of beneficiary farmers in document format in a van and dropped it at the residence of Chouhan in Bhopal.

Aware of what was coming, Chouhan was well prepared showed the media video recorded speech of Congress president Rahul Gandhi promising the loan would be waived off within ten days of Congress coming to power.

Chouhan who stood his ground after the Congress leaders left, told the media that CM Kamal Nath has sent me list of Agriculture Dept but he required list of banks which would be waiving off loans ultimately. Merely vitiating the atmosphere and confusing farmers won’t fetch them anything. Saying they would waive off Rs  48,000 crore, the State Government provisioned Rs 1,300 crore,” alleged the exChief Minister.

First it was Bhopal candidate Digvijay Singh who replied to Chouhan saying there are even beneficiaries from the native village of Chouhan whose names are there in the list of loan waiver beneficiaries.
