Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) president Kantilal Bhuria’s son Vikrant on Wednesday demanded that being a tribal leader, his father should be made Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh, if Congress comes to power.
Vikrant was addressing his supporters at a function orgnaised on Gandhi Jayanti in Jhabua on Wednesday. He said, “You need to be cautions that we (tribals) are not cheated.” Ironically, PCC chief Kantilal Bhuria was also present at the venue along with three Congress legislators. The Congress MlAs also advocated the demand of Vikrant.
At the venue, Vikrant said, if Congress is voted to power in Madhya Pradesh, only a tribal should be made chief minister. “Do support with this demand, if we need to talk the high command, we would do,” he said, adding that Madhya Pradesh is a tribal dominated State and even then since Independence, no tribal has become the Chief Minister of MP.
He continued cursing the leadership, saying, “Everybody has used us so far and nobody came for our welfare.” Maintaining direct dialogue with the gathering, Vikrant asked whether they would support his demand, they raised their voice in support.
MlAs Xavier Medha, Veer Singh Bhuria and Walsingh Medha, who later addressed the gathering, also advocated the same demand. On the occasion, Congress secretary Kalawati Bhuria, district Congress president Sureshchandra Jain, district panchayat president and others also went to the extent that every Congress worker of the party in Jhabua would become chief minister if Kantilal Bhuria is appointed CM.
