Welcoming the removal of Tribal Welfare Minister Vijay Shah from his post, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) State President Kantilal Bhuria and leader of Opposition in the State assembly Ajay Singh have demanded that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should also take action against several other ministers who have made indecent comments against women in the past.
leader of Opposition in State Assembly Ajay Singh also demanded that an FIR should be lodged against State Tribal Welfare Minister Vijay Shah for using double entendres targeting women during a Government programme. Notably, Shah tendered his resignation to Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Tuesday night in the wake of the controversy over the comments made by him during a programme in Jhabua
on Sunday. The resignation that was sent to the Governor with Chief Minister's recommendation was accepted by the Governor. The opposition leader alleged that accepting the resignation had become a compulsion for the BJP Government because of the embarrassment it was facing due to Shah's irresponsible utterances.
The opposition leader also said that several cabinet ministers, including State Industries Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya, had insulted women openly and the Chief Minister should take resignation from such ministers.
"Vijay Shah has apologised for his statement, but Vijayvargiya still remains firm on his statement that hurts the dignity of women. If the Chief Minister has concern for the esteem of Indian women he should demand resignation from Kailash Vijayvargiya and also remove corrupt ministers from his Government," he said.
Meanwhile, an MPCC delegation led by its Media Department Chairperson Manak Agarwal lodged a complaint against Vijay Shah at the Shyamla Hills police station on Wednesday. In the compliant, it has demanded that FIR should be registered against Shah and he should be arrested immediately for passing indecent remarks derogatory of the dignity of women during a public programme in presence of girl students, lady teachers, a woman Collector and other citizens.
It has also been alleged that for the first time in the history of Madhya Pradesh a cabinet minister has committed such an act in a government programme. Besides, it mentions that the incident is also serious because the minister dragged the name of Chief Minister's wife in his indecent comments.
