Bhuria demands CM's resignation

In view of the spurt in cases of rapes against minor girls in the State, as shown by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) report, Madhya Pradesh Congress Committee (MPCC) President Kantilal Bhuria demanded that Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan should resign.

“The Chief Minister who has proved his failure on every front has no moral right to remain in power,” Bhuria said in a statement released on Thursday, alleging that the NCRB report has exposed the failure of the State Government in protecting law and order.

“The State Government has claimed that during tenure of Shivraj Singh Chouhan hundreds of crores have been spent for welfare of girls and to strengthen policing in the State. But it is quite shameful that in 2012, the cases of rape against minor girls has increased by 30 per cent compared to 2011. Besides, the fact of serious decrease in number of girl-children in the state in last 10 years has already come to light,” Bhuria said.

Bhuria alleged that the BJP government has transformed the state into the rape capital of the country. “The state was already at the top in terms of crime against women. Now it has also got the distinction of being at the top in rape of minors. This shameful achievement of Shivraj Government has lowered the head of the state. This is where the BJP Government has taken the State,”he said.
