State Congress president Kantilal Bhuria on Monday called on Union Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde and appraised him in detail with the plight of law and order situation in Madhya Pradesh.
Bhuria told Union Home Minister that the Congress led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) Government at centre has extended full cooperation on Naxalites issue to the neighbouring Chhattisgarh State and other Maoist affected States but the recent attack on the Congress Parivartan Yatra has proved that the Chhattisgarh Government has totally failed to curb the problem and similar is the position in Madhya Pradesh.
He said that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Government of Madhya Pradesh is not at all serious over the issue of Maoists.
After the Attack on Congress party’s Yatra in neighboring state the morale of the ultras are high and it is feared that they might target the common people and the Congress leaders and workers in Madhya Pradesh also.
The districts neighbouring Chhattisgarh have remained Naxal affected and the Naxal activities are off and then reported there, hence in these circumstances adequate arrangements should be made in these districts’ from center to foil attempts if any are made to harm the people of the state, he added. Bhuria, also a former union minister while apprising about the deteriorating law and order of the state while appraising the union home minister about the recently held criminal incidences informed him that Madhya Pradesh tops in crime against girl child and women. Gang rapes with small girls have become a common thing in the state and the condition is so worst that a small girl was raped and murder in the state capital that too near the official residence of State’s Home Minister.
Despite all this the state Government is silent and inactive over the issue of protecting honor of women and girls, he added.
