The Bhopalites witnessed another striking example of women empowerment as two classical maestros gave splendid performances back-to-back. On Monday, Sangeeta Goswami and Kalapini Komkali, the classical melody singers, gave a fascinating performance at Antarang Hall, Bharat Bhavan. It was the second day of the cultural programme ‘Aadhya’ organised by Bharat Bhavan to observe the International Women’s Day. The fest is all about dance, music, and theatre performances by renowned women artists of the country.
The performance of second day began with the tuneful recital of classical ragas by Sangeeta Goswami. A glittering gem in the crown of Indian classical music, Sangeeta hails from Bhopal. She performed the classical ragas in praise of womanhood.
Vocalist of mesmerising melodies, Sangeeta Goswami has always enthralled her audiences with her performances. Her voice is her forte and she delved deep into the spiritual essence of Indian classical music to blossom into a musical genius. As she was performing the ragas, the audience listened to her with rapt attention and enjoyed the evening.
The series of classical was then followed with the wondrous performance by a renowned classical singer Kalapini Komkali. Endowed with wholly original, melodious and extremely rich voice, Kalapini is widely recognised as one of the finest and well - trained classical vocalists of the younger generation.
An awesome inheritance resides in her genes. Kalapini has been able to cut a path of her own drawing from the inspiration of her father and Guru Kumar Gandharva and has begun to show signs of sudden and unexpected intimations in her art. There are some major elements to be observed in her music.
Kalapini has performed independently across the country to appreciative audiences. At present, she trains intensively with her mother. At Bharat Bhavan, her melodies created an extremely mild atmosphere letting the audience enjoy the ragas to the fullest.
