She directed corporation’s officers to coordinate with GAIl officers to start the project soon. GAIl officer Pradeep Madan said that joint sector undertaking Avantika Gas limited was doing this work in Madhya Pradesh. The pipeline from Mumbai to Delhi would have to be extended 100 kilometers towards Bhopal. He informed that piped natural gas (PNG) is being used successfully throughout the world. It is also being used in place of petrol and diesel. It has now become vital for cities and mega cities. There is no possibility of adulteration in CNG and PNG and these are also environment-friendly. Cost of running vehicles on CNG is 40 to 50 per cent cheaper than petrol and 20 to 30 per cent than diesel. The GAIl Officers informed that it is being used in state at present at Indore, Ujjain and Gwalior. There are about 4000 PNG and 5000 CNG connections in these cities.
