Bhopal no more safe place

The State capital is no more a safe place for the residents. The murder of retired Army officer and his wife suggests that the police officials are not interested in providing security to the common people.

The deceased was a member of United Malayalee Association (UMA). The Association members discussed the issue with the senior police officers and expressed their anger over the incident.

UMA president Ashokan said that in the whole BHEl area, there is no security and no policeman is seen on the roads. He claims that it is quite unsafe to live in the township nowadays.

The couple lived in the posh Narmada Green Valley Colony. The retired Army officer chose to live in Bhopal after his retirement in 2014, only because two of his daughters are married in Bhopal. One lives in Misrod, while the second in Piplani. His third daughter lives in Gwalior and she arrived here in the afternoon.

It was only a couple of months ago, the district administration, with the help of Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC) came out with an innovative idea of opening the New Market till 2 o’clock in the night.

Police claimed that Bhopal is quite safe for the families to move out. However, such incidents like couple murder cases have exposed the claims of the police and administration.

Ironically, the police officials wake up only after the crime. This time too, DIG Bhopal Dharmendra Choudhary on Friday, in a statement said that the police would make special arrangements for security to older people.
