Barring minor damage to platform shed, the trial run of first air-conditioned double-decker train between Bhopal and Indore, was successful on Saturday.
The train arrived at the Indore station 40 minutes behind the schedule as it was detained at at laxmibai railway station. As the double-decker train arrived at platform no. 3 of Indore railway station, it became a thing of curiosity for everyone who had gathered at the railway station to see the trial run of the first double-decker air-conditioned train in the State. The train had by and large a smooth travel, barring minor damage to the shed of platform no; 3 due its height.
Thankfully, it did not cause any damage to persons gathered at the platform. The railway engineers present there described the incident as normal and said that whatever, problem emerged on account of platform shed and its height would be sorted out before routine running of this train between Indore and Bhopal.
The fully air-conditioned double-decker train will have a total of 12 coaches and each coach will have a seating capacity for 120 persons. As per the scheduled time, the train (22183) will leave Habibganj station every morning at 6 am and will reach Indore at 9.40 am via Bhopal, Sehore, Shujalpur, Maxi, Ujjain
and Dewas stations.
The train in its return journey will leave Indore station at 10.10 am and will reach Bhopal at 2.05 pm. From Bhopal
station, the train (22186) will again leave for Indore at 2.35 pm and will reach Indore at 6 pm. The train (22184) will have last run from Indore every day at 7.35 pm and will reach Habibganj station at 11.20 pm.
It was after almost nine years that Indore has seen a double-decker train.
The first double-decker train had been brought to Indore during the Simhasth nine years and it had been plied between Indore and Ujjain during the Simhasth period to cater to heavy traffic of railway passengers.
“Once the services of this double-decker train is regularised between Indore and Bhopal, it is expected to cause huge financial blows to taxi operators between Indore and Bhopal. People would like to travel by this train,by this train, which will not only be cost effective in terms of its fare, but also in terms of comfort and safety ” said a passenger.
