launched with much fanfare the double decker train would commence its last journey on the route on Wednesday August 13. The much-hyped Bhopal Indore double-decker train will permanently go off tracks on August 13 due to low occupancy and lack of interest shown by passengers.
Ratlam division PRO Jitendra Kumar Jayant said, "The last date of reservation is August 12. The train incurred heavy losses due to lack of interest by passengers."
The train that was launched with eight coaches was soon reduced to three coaches due to lack of interest by passengers. "Double-decker would often run with only 40 per cent seats," said the PRO adding, "We are demanding Western Railways to run double decker on other routes."
Zonal Railway Users Consultative Committee (ZRUCC) member Nagesh Namjoshi said, "This train was launched to facilitate Indore and Bhopal passengers. But, high fare and odd timings did not attract passengers."
Indore's MP and lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had also suggested to run the train on Indore-Baroda-Surat route, which would generate good revenue and reduce passenger rush.
